Tiny tables, crammed with empty glasses, 54min wait for food after a 1/2hr wait for a table DESPITE HAVING BOOKED!! My jacket was not taken, nor my husbands. Waiter was rude, food presentation was embarrassing but in their favour, it tasted good and was hot at least. Very noisy - couldn't hold a conversation and when we asked where the food was, the waiter said "it's the paella, it takes 40 mins - if you ordered a starter you wouldn't have noticed", then walked off. RUDELY. When I said that the starter comment was a bit rude, but it's OK, the waiter just shruged. I am quite dissapointed - there were loads of regulars there - kissing the waiters, etc - they did not seem to mind the 1.5hr wait for food. In their favour, the food was very tasty, but eating out is about an entire experience, and they could not manage the basics. Also - if someone bangs pot lids in your ear, almost deafening you, don't worry - it's some chav's birthday.

If you fancy a nice quiet relaxed dining experiance give this fabulous place a very wide birth! Esp on weekends this place becomes a chaotic manic and very loud bar/restaurant serving up the real thing. The atmosphere and food is nothing short of spactacular, and decent prices and very large tapas portions. There's also a section at the back for quieter dining. Best Spanish food outside of Spain. Keep up the great work folks!

Why bother going to any other restaurant in Croydon/London? This is the real deal. The tapas are really raciones! And a flavour to die for. Even amoungst the chaos of Saturday night the service is quick and friendly. Always seems to be packed out. Like all good tapas bars there are no reservations available. Straight out of Madrid this place is!

I absolutely agree with Chris. this is a very busy place on a friday and saturday so if you dont want to be waiting for about half an hour (which isnt actually too long!) go mid week when the food is still excellent but the atmosphere less hectic. at weekends expect to wait a while but the bar staff will keep you entertained. when you do get your table and order the fantastic food try the choritzo in red wine and garlic!! its amazing!

I wouldn't normally bother but I just had to refute the review written by Sarah. Yes, Galicia is busy but that is because this is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in London and you can't book to eat inthe Tapas area. The food is excellent, as is the atmosphere. Go, you wont regret it.

This place is amazing. Quality of sevice, food and atmosphere is always guaranteed. My friends and I are regulars whenever we need a girlie catch up, meals with partners and even when you can't be bothered to cook as it is reasonably priced as well. I would highly recommend this restuarant even to the fussiest of eaters as there is something for everyone.

Went on an unexpected free night of children last Friday. The atmosphere was buzzing and whole place was heaving. managed to get a seat at the bar and asked for a table. Only waited about 15 minutes and ordered 4 tapas dishes and a salad. All were served quickly and were delicious. Really good value at £33 and too much for us to finish. Only down side for me was it was extremely smoky but then won't be a problem from Sunday!

Always a good atmosphere with happy and freindly waiters. I was the first customer when Galicia opened some 10/11 years ago,my wife and I still go at least twice a week, so they must be doing something right.Great value for money!

The tapas was well seasoned and full of flavour, the prawns with garlic and white wine were more-ish i would also suggest the mussels, chorizo & potato in tomato sauce and the wine (chardonnay) was fantastic.I would definately recommend this restaurant, the atmosphere is lively and the staff are friendly and very helpful.

I've been twice, the first time I thought was an off night -but the second time was awful too, the rice was overcooked and the prawns tasted odd (I didn't eat them). Certainly wouldn't go again.

I am currently living in USA and it's amazing how many "Tapas" restaurants think they are serving the "Genuine" tapas...but they need to take some culinary lesson's from "Galicia". Had a fantastic lunch today. The food was very tasty with the freshest flavours I can remember tasting. The monkfish was divine. The service was friendly and professional as always. And the bill didn't burn a hole in the pocket either! We could only wonder why we'd left it so long since our last visit.

Its a lovely tapas bar, always packed full and unfortunatly you cant book otherwise you end up in the restaurant rather than the tapas bar which isnt quite so nice. the waiters are friendly and love to joke, and the food is always delicious.

I always enjoy this restaurant (only ever for tapas) and am a regular visitor, however, they have a slight tendency towards a little bit of bad attitude and usuallly try to rush you out once it becomes obvious that you not going to order too much more, and perhaps your'e just trying to enjoy a last few glasses of some of their excellenmt wines.

Review is for the restaurant, and not for the tapas bar. Good atmosphere. Waiters polite. Food took far too long to arrive though, and when it did, it was disappointing. We ordered mixed grilled seafood. It looked and tasted as though it had been grilled earlier and then re-heated in the oven. Dry and poor texture. The wine list on the other hand was excellent. We had a Torres Chardonnay. Correct temperature. Nice wine. Conclusion: Not the place to go if you want authentic Galician seafood, but makes a fair evening out. Marks out of ten: Food 5, Wine 9, Service 5, Atmosphere 7, overall value for money 6

Rather dreadful, really. We ordered several dishes and salads for our vegetarian party- what turned up was a plate of what looked like dogfood or something worse and a non-veg tuna salad nestled amongst our tapas. None of which we had ordered. one patatas bravas was missing and the size of 'large' tapas here is the size of a small dish at home.( none of us are huge eaters, either) the order was sent back leaving us with 3 correct dishes for 4 starving people. We waited and waited and decided the staff hated us as we sat for nearly 1/2 an hour. Finally we were given a bit more, but were past caring.... The small amount we had was faitly pleasnat but not great. they reduced the bill considerably, but did it first without telling us so we were confusedd right to the end.

We always enjoy going to El Tasca in Croydon and our friends loved it too. It is like eating in an old Spanish mansion - huge black braziers on the ceiling, dark vellum walls, Happy Spanish music plays in the background - and great food too. Their best speciality is the variety of mini paellas. There is also a kids' menu, and it's great having a jug of sangria with the meal. The kids' menu needs more plain stuff as kids are fussy - otherwise fantastic, and very friendly staff.

It may well of become a victim of its own success - but last time I went service was terrible! They failed to inform me that my section of the restaurant would include a Hen night with 20+ people and only had one waiter to serve all. After I ordered the drinks - and said I would like a couple of minutes before ordering the main - the waiter disappeared - never to return! I paid for my drinks, then left.

La Tasca is a standard tapas restaurant that is generally 'ok' all round. The food is OK, the staff are OK and so is the restaurant itself. If you're caught out hungry in the centre of Croydon and are too tired to walk down to South End, try La Tasca.

I must say that La Tasca is my favourite restaurant at the moment; Its perfect for bringing parents, friends and other halves (which is why im on this website atm....) The atmosphere is fantastic, the waiters very competent and I have always found the service very quick. I would reccomend the Sangria; it comes in a er.....clay type jug thing? Its not too strong as to make you ridiculously tipsy but its refreshingly alcoholic enough. Delicious (with fruit bits included! hurrah!) Definatley great for any occasion, I would be surprised if you didn't have a great night out at this restaurant. Im going there tomorrow and just can't wait! Id reccomend the patatas bravas btw. Bye!

Modern Tapas restaurant with a not unattractive layout. Background music loud enough to dance to but suprisingly unintrusive during conversation at the table. Service was cheerful, attentive and helpful. One of our number needed gluten-free dishes and staff were suprisingly well prepared and able to identify (the considerable number of) suitable menu items. Wine choice was good. Food from the extensive tapas menu was nicely cooked and thankfully not drowned in olive oil (unlike some places I could mention!). Perhaps not the most cosy or intimate of eateries but service and food are spot on. Recommended.

A great addition to the High Street. A chain whilst still feeling a unique - after a few yummy sangrias you could be in a tapas bar in spain. Friendly, unrushed service and fab food - dip your bread in the Piri Piri prawn sauce, yummy. Well priced - a meal for 2 big eaters with drinks under 30 quid.

I agree with the recent reviews below. I have been to Las Fuentes for various birthdays, family dinners, dinner for 2 etc over the last 8 years. It isn't what it was. You have to get in very early at the weekend to get a table. The last time we went at 6pm on a Saturday the staff were just finishing off their own dinners. No atmosphere, very rushed, food felt like it had been reheated and pretty bland. Very expensive. When the new owners took over from Gio it was good, the food was good as was the service but since then it's just gone downhill. Friday is a no no unless you are under 21. We are going to try Gallicia which is a shame because Las Fuentes was always our favourite local restaurant, but it just isn't the same.

V disappointing. Booked for my father's birthday, which they knew at the time of booking. Service v slow - even to get initial drinks. Food indifferent (poor in some cases). Power cut during the evening not their fault, but took nearly 1/2 an hour to bring 1 tealight to a table of eight. Not cheap either. Simply not good enough for the money. Go to Galicia in South Croydon instead for better food and far better service and more fun.

Staff were rude and ignored us while we waited for over 30 minutes without being offered a drink, they could learn from the Galicia, much better customer service, staff are friendly and welcoming, very important in this industry!

I regularly dine at Las Fuentes because of the fantastic food they serve. It amazes me at the quality considering the amount of people that dine there. It is often busy and you may have to wait for a while to dine but the drinks at the bar are reasonably priced and it is well worth the wait. It is particularly friendly to families and groups of women and the staff are great. Keep up the good work!!

Magellans is a favourite restaurant of mine, having first been there on my second date with my now long term boyfriend. Since that date I have been to Magellans with friends, work colleagues and my partner. Always, the atmosphere is excellent and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Having persuaded my friends to make the journey to Croydon we are now hosting a friend's Hen Night there in June. I would recommend Magellans to anyone who wants a lively but not noisy night out with good food, good service and an ambiance that suits young and old alike.

It's hard to express how awful my experience of this 'restaurant' was in a few words. My visit was a birthday surprise. And what a surprise it was. Bad service, out of stock for half the menu,badly cooked food served cold. That's just the beginning, the place was almost sub-zero temperature and we noticed the only other dinners kept their coats on. We were badgered constantly to order and when we were ready the staff had vanished. After ordering we waited for at least forty minutes, only to be told what we wanted was unavailable. Two letters of complaint were ignored and a phone call was met with ' did you expect a reply?'. They clearly don't care, so don't go there. Absolutely dreadful.
