Albert's Table
South End, Croydon, is fast turning into an unlikely mecca for fine dining. A short walk from le Cassoulet and newly opened Fish and Grill, Albert's Table is another top notch restaurant to have sprung up amid the fast food joints that litter the area. We went here for a three course meal to celebrate my birthday and were not disappointed. The food was superb, to start the crab tart is highly recommended, while my girlfriend enjoyed her wild rabbit terrine. The tasting of Gloucester Old Spot pork was straight out of the top draw, as was the black bream with roast beetroot, orange braised endive and a potage of white beans and thyme. Deserts were something else as well. What's not to like about chocolate fondant soufflé with passion fruit sorbet and chocolate chip cookies? You'd probably pay an extra £10 a head for the same standard of food in central London, and the wine list is good value too. The service was also keen and attentive. We'll definitely be heading back.

Albert's table
We had a fantastic meal there! Thorougly enjoyed our 3- course dinner, all dishes were delicious, my lamb for main was outstandingly good. Staff were attentive, we felt well looked after. Really hope that their high standards will stay the same in future as very much would like to come back again and again.

Albert's Table
Delicious! A fantastic new restaurant in Croydon - well worth a visit and very reasonably priced for the outstanding food. The crab tart is to die for!

Albert's Table
I had the pleasure of eating at Albert's Table earlier this week with my partner. We both thought the food was outstanding, I had a lemon meringue pie which was amazing! Great to find a restaurant like Albert's Table in somewhere like croydon. A hidden gem.

Croydon Steak House
Do not go there if you are a steak lover, the steak was so terrible that I fail to see how they can call themselves a steak house. If anyone can remember Winstons in Wallington, now there was a steak house.

Croydon Steak House
I agree with Dave ad Joan. I also had an unpleasant experience at the same place. I had to pay extra for my mushrooms, chips and tomato. Who only eats a steak with no extras! My steak was burnt and tasteless. Outrageous...the chef should be sacked!

croydon steak house
Please do not go to this restaurant! Been there tonight and it was horrible. 'Saute potatoes' mushrooms and a burnt steak not my idea of a perfectly cooked meal. Save yourselves the agony as it was the worst meal i have ever had and no apology from the owners...Very overated and over priced.

Croydon Steak House
I had a fantastic meal - Great food and would recommend to anyone who would like a nice friendly family resturant with a lovely atmosphere. Not sure where Matt Bruce went but I cant believe it was the same place. 10/10

Croydon Steak House
Forget your Beefeaters and Brewery pubs, you will not get a better steak anywhere else, and they actually cook it the way you ask for it to be cooked! What a fantastic place! Family run, really friendly, very cosy. Love it! Expect to leave full to the brim. 10/10.

joanna's
my husband and I visited joanna's for our second wedding anniversary and we both thought the standard was excellent. the waiters were very professional and friendly. I am vegetarian and both my starter and main meal were the best quality I have ever had. the owner asked us how our meals were and was genuinely interested that we enjoyed our meal. the prices were very reasonable and we will definitely be making a return visit.

Joannas
I have been using Joannas for over 4 years and visit weekly. The food is wonderful especially the roasts on a sunday. Mimmi the manager is a wonderful host, the staff always remember your face and service is impeccable. Also try the burgers but only if your hungry!

Oscars
My third visit in as many years (Oct 03) and it is still great. Lovely food, help yourself buffet, hotel type service (i.e. waiters can speak english and are polite), nice atmosphere. A three course meal plus coffee and half bottle wine for £21. Plus free parking - Beat that.

Oscars
Oscars in the main restaurant in the Croydon Park Hotel, approximately 2 mins from East Croydon Station. Superb service, lovely starters and fantastic main course! Would not think twice about recommending it to friends. Go there and try - you won't be disappointed.

Oscar's
The restaurant offers a la carte and a set menu buffet carvery. In my opinion it is good value and offers an ideal setting for a multi genrational family meal.

Oscars - Croydon Park Hotel Carvery
A serve yourself buffet to start (as much as you want), followed by freshly carved roast beef (excellent) and finishing with sweet or cheese and coffee for only £21 (includes a free half bottle of wine) per head at the weekend. This has to be the best value in Croydon. The atmosphere is that of a top London hotel without the tourists, The service is top class, all the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I really enjoyed my visit here. I suspect it would be wise to book. My nomination for the best restaurant in Croydon.

Oscars - Croydon Park Hotel Carvery
Many thanks for your help last evening, it worked out well at the Croydon Park Hotel. My sister was delighted and asked me to convey her thanks to you.   Service was excellent, carvery was really very good, (except roast potatoes which were a bit soft), other vegetables al dente and sweets superb.  Wine price reasonable.  Price £18.75 per head was good value for a 4 star in Croydon, plus easy free parking .   So, many thanks indeed. - Terry

Rayon 'Dor
At first when we came into the restaurant it seem like we just join a pub. But for my surprise our meal as a delight, the must politeness service, description of menu, really good food, followed by courteousness staff always paying attention to detail. What a impressive evening. Was worth to stay. We will be coming back for sure.

Rayon D'or
Have eaten 3 or 4 times both evening and lunch including Sunday lunch. Food always sublime but not cheap. Last visit on a wintry Saturday night for husbands birthday. Booked a table in advance but absolutely no one else in the restaurant. The waiting staff are all French and quite aloof but very efficient. Not sure if we'd go alone again as no atmosphere at all. Funnily enough although restaurant dead as a dodo bar is always busy and there is nearly always a function in the function room. Good for family Sunday lunch with children, although mine are too old for it they have entertainer who face paints and makes balloon shapes.

Rayon d'Or
Went to Rayon d'Or last night and had a fantastic meal. The service was great, we were really well looked after. The starters were very good and the Chateaubriand was out of this world. This really is a good restaurant and very different in terms of decoration (it is themed 1920's - 30's) and is well worth a visit. If you want something a little different give it a go...

Rayon D'Or
Shockingly overpriced, poor quality food - and surly waiting staff - it was a horrible experience, and one I won't repeat again any time soon!

Rayon D'Or, Croydon Airport
Difficult to categorise - I guess this place falls into the 'Modern English' category. The establishment has two restaurants and on arrival we found we were booked into the wrong one. This was, fortunately quickly rectified. The Rayon D'Or is tucked away at one end of a cavernous bar room and feels more like an afterthought than a restaurant. Menu offered an interesting variety of dishes with good veggy selection. Unfortunately was a little too clever and over-rich and left me unimpressed. Although no staff member could be faulted, they did seem short of staff. It was also difficult to summon service due to some of the furnishings obscuring the tables - this visibility problem applied both ways as it made seeing the Musicians difficult as well. I have no plans to return.

Tiger Tiger
A few friends arranged a birthday lunch in Tiger Tiger, we pre-ordered the food because we were on our lunch break, and when we got there we told them again that we were in a rush, the food still had not arrived 45 minutes later! when we asked about it, they said it would be another 20 minutes, we had to leave and go back to work, what a disapointment, never again.

The Treehouse
One of the best places to eat in Croydon. This is a gorgeous pub/bar that places the emphasis wholly on the food. There is a small area to sit and drink, but it is the area reserved for eating that shows you how serious they are about the food. Filled with fairy lights and heavy wooden furniture, overlooked by an open kitchen, expect high quality, inventive dishes. Highly recommended and highly popular, so remember to book.

The Tree House
Excellent choice. Delicious food and great ambience

The White Horse Pub
I found the food to be rather tastless. Everything seemed to be thrown in the fryer. General bar area appeared very dirty and the barmen and maids were seen to be smoking behind the bar. Im sure this is a health and safety violation. Especially as the staff all seem to be drinking large quantities at the same time. However, the drink and food prices were rather cheap in comparison with surrounding competition.
